Lawmakers are taking a closer look at the U.S. exit from Afghanistan.

New Jersey Democrat Bob Menendez opened a hearing by citing "horrifying" abuses by the Taliban after overtaking the Afghan government.

He suggested there's plenty of blame to go around, going back many years. Menendez chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Meantime, Secretary of State Antony Blinken called it America's longest war and insisted it was time to get out.
