While it's supposed to be the season of gift-giving, many people are buying presents for themselves. According to CNBC, the average American spends $155 on self-gifting during the holiday season. In addition, the average person will spend one-thousand-dollars on holiday gifts this year, with men spending the most. Thirty-percent of men polled expect to spend more than $750, or $164 more than last year. Experts say the jump in spending by men is likely because there are more things for men to shop for.
