Facebook said today that it could offer no assurance that social media was good for democracy. However, the company said it was trying what it could to stop alleged meddling in elections. Samidh Chakrabarti, a Facebook product manager, wrote in a post that “I wish I could guarantee that the positives are destined to outweigh the negatives, but I can‘t.”
At the end of the day, does it all rest on the shoulders of companies like Facebook? Should we slow down and take time to become informed on issues using credible sources and not rely on the latest post or Tweet?
