Christmas celebrations canceled in Jesus’ biblical hometown

The mayor of Nazareth is canceling Christmas festivities in the sacred city because he says President Trump has taken the joy out of the holiday.

In protest of Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, mayor Ali Salam said Thursday he was canceling celebrations.

Nazareth is a mostly Muslim city that is revered by Christians as the childhood home of Jesus.

The cancellation will come at a price to Nazareth, where the annual Christmas festivities draw tens of thousands of pilgrims to the Israeli city.

What do you think of Mayor Salam's rationale here?  Is this a bit extreme?  Or is it a real sign of the tension Mr. Trump's decision has created in the region?
