San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa reportedly suffered a season-ending torn ACL during Sunday's (September 21) win against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday (September 21), sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday (September 22).

"Tests today showed that 49ers Pro Bowl DE Nick Bosa suffered a season-ending torn ACL during Sunday’s win over Arizona, sources tell ESPN. It’s a clean tear, but Bosa now will need season-ending surgery," Schefter wrote on his X account. "Nick Bosa gave a thumbs down after he hurt his knee because he sensed the severity of the injury. His fears were realized a short time ago when an MRI showed a clean, season-ending tear of his ACL."

Bosa suffered the injury while rushing Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray and was double teamed by Kelvin Beachum and Evan Brown, with Brown knocking him to the ground on the incomplete pass. The former NFL Defensive Player of the Year appeared to bend awkwardly as he fell to the ground and slowly walked to the sideline, at which point 49ers staff began treating him as he lied on his back.

Bosa recorded 15 tackles, two sacks and eight QB pressures and a 21.9% pass rush win rate during his first two games of the 2025 NFL season. The former Ohio State University standout signed a five-year, $170 million contract extension with the Niners in 2023.
