Flanagan: Good parents ‘believe’ kids when they ‘tell us who they are’

Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan said that listening to and believing children “when they tell us who they are” is “what it means to be a good parent.”

The viral comment was made during a press conference earlier this month when Gov. Tim Walz signed an executive order making Minnesota a sanctuary state for gender transitions, including for minors and residents of other states with more restrictive laws.

“When our children tell us who they are, it is our job as grown-ups to listen and to believe them. That’s what it means to be a good parent,” Flanagan said during the press conference.

A new poll from the Center of the American Experiment found that the overwhelming majority of Minnesotans are opposed to sex change operations for minors. Even a slim majority of Democrats agreed.
