Burt Bacharach Dead At 94

Burt Bacharach has passed away at the age of 94. According to TMZ, the prolific composer/songwriter died on Wednesday, February 8th, at his Los Angeles home per his publicist. He died of natural causes.

Bacharach composed hundreds of pop songs from the late 1950s to the 1980s and often teamed up with lyricist Hal David. The duo was known for several Dionne Warwick hits like "Do You Know The Way to San Jose," "Walk on By," and "I'll Never Fall in Love Again." They also composed the score for the 1969 film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid which included the song "Raindrops" and earned them two Academy Awards. In 2015, Rolling Stone ranked Bacharach and David at no. 32 on their list of 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time. The musician's success continued into the 1990s, earning a Grammy in 1998 for his album with Elvis Costello, Painted from Memory.

In addition to songwriting, Bacharach racked up several film and television credits. The most popular being his cameo roles in all three Austin Powers movies which were inspired by his score for the 1967 James Bond parody Casino Royale. Earlier in his life, he occasionally appeared on popular television variety shows like The Merv Griffin Show, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and several others.
