Kansas City Chiefs' Bashaud Breeland Arrested For Marijuana Possession

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Bashaud Breeland is facing multiple charges after he was arrested in Fort Mill, South Carolina, on Tuesday (April 28). Authorities said that a sheriff's officer approached Breeland and two other men after allegedly witnessing them smoking marijuana.

As the officer confronted the trio, they attempted to flee the scene. One of the suspects reportedly threw a blunt into Breeland's car. When the officer tried to place Breeland in handcuffs, he attempted to resist and got in his vehicle to drive away. The officer drew his firearm, and Breeland put his hands up and was cuffed while the deputy searched his car.

The officer found a rolled blunt, about 3.2 grams of marijuana, two opened bottles of Corona beer, and an opened bottle of Patron. Breeland gave the officer permission to search his phone, and he reportedly found messages about purchasing drugs.

Breeland admitted to the officer that he smoked and called himself a marijuana enthusiast. He was taken into custody and is facing charges of resisting arrest, having alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken, having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or ten grams of hash, and driving without a license.

The Kansas City Chief said they are aware of the situation but refused to offer further comments.
