Hayley Williams Joins American Football on New Song "Uncomfortably Numb"

American Football reunited after a 14 year hiatus in 2014. Two years later, the influential emo band released its second self-titled album. Now, the Midwest rockers are gearing up to release American Football (LP3), and have shared a track off the album that features none other than Paramore's Hayley Williams.

The haunting ballad seems to be a conversation between a man and woman (perhaps lovers?) as the man contemplates what's happened in his life that led to this: a ride in an ambulance. At first American Football's Mike Kinsella and Hayley sing a disjointed duet, telling the same story from different perspectives, and then Hayley gets to say her part in a stand alone verse.

"We were gentle to begin/ Then I pushed you around to break you in," she sings. "Now whenever I try to be clear with you/ I only end up feeling see-through/ I've tried, but you've won/ Comotose, like father like son."

The corresponding music video mirrors the lyrics. Starring members of the band, along with cameos from Workaholics Blake Anderson and pro skater Paul Rodriguez, the clip is mainly set within the walls of an ambulance.
