What do you get the man who has everything? A new middle name apparently.
"Home Alone" star Macaulay Culkin revealed last month on "The Tonight Show" after growing tired of his current middle name, "Carson," he was ready for a new one. The 38-year-old actor told Jimmy Fallon that he decided the internet (which always has people's best interests in mind), would be the perfect place to solicit opinions on what his new moniker should be.
Culkin opened a poll on his website through Christmas Eve, vowing to adopt the winner as his legal middle name in the new year.
Voters were given the choice between the following options:
- Macaulay Culkin
- Shark Week
- Kieran (suggested by Culkin's brother Kieran).
- TheMcRibisBack
- Publicity Stunt
Culkin wrote on his website that he was serious about adopting the new moniker - whatever it might be.
This poll is open till Christmas Eve so I can wake up to a wonderful present from everyone. Sure, I might have gold plated watercraft, and chrome plated invisibility cloaks, but all I want for Christmas is a new middle name. And then you can be all “Oh, you got your wife a beautiful portrait of your family? Well, I chose Macaulay Culkin’s Middle Name.” And they will cry and cry. Don’t be the kind of person who cries on Christmas. Be the kind of person that chooses my new middle name.
Overwhelmingly, voters chose "Macauly Culkin" as Culkin's new middle name, with 60,990, more than enough to beat out the other choices on the list. "TheMcRibisBack" came in second with 13,559 votes.
Culkin posted the winning name to his Twitter account Christmas Day.
Merry Christmas to me, from all of you! My new middle name has been chosen. You voted and the winner is clear. In 2019 my new legal name will be: Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. It has a nice ring to it (if you like my name).#MerryChristmas
