President Trump's choice to lead the C.I.A. is advancing toward final approval. Yesterday, the Senate Intelligence Committee gave nominee Gina Haspel its green light. The panel forwarded Haspel's nomination to the full Senate for a confirmation vote. Haspel is Deputy Director now and is also the acting director after Mike Pompeo's recent departure. If approved, she would be the first woman to be officially installed as Director of the agency. President Trump nominated Haspel to replace Mike Pompeo, who is now Secretary of State.
