S.E. Cupp Slams ‘The Comey Show’: James Comey’s ‘Chief Interest’ Is Himself

HLN’s S.E. Cupp found “The Comey Show” to be a pretty mixed bag.

She said there are certainly good parts of what James Comey has to say, but she also touched on the “bad” and the “ugly.”

Comey has repeatedly emphasized that he wasn’t comfortable with President Trump‘s expectation of loyalty, but Cupp questioned whether that squares with the relief Comey says he felt after what Barack Obama told him post-election.

She was also struck by the “lower pettiness” of Comey’s book when it comes to the descriptions of Trump’s physicality.

“It’s impossible,” Cupp continued, “not to view what the former FBI director has done over the past two years as being motivated, in part, by what he thought best protected his own reputation. The ensuing 5-week book tour should make pretty clear what Jim Comey’s chief interest is: Jim Comey.”
