During the confirmation hearings for Neil Gorsuch, both Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken had the opportunity to ask the Supreme Court nominee about his qualifications. Instead, they decided to engage in irrelevant political grandstanding that should be embarrassing to most Minnesotans.
For starters, Sen Klobuchar astonishingly thought that, being an originalist, Gorsuch might question whether or not a woman would be allowed to be President:
Later, Sen Franken spent his entire time trying to bait Gorsuch into overtly political answers, and became more and more frustrated when he wouldn't take the bait:
