President Obama is appointing Julia Pierson to head the U.S. Secret Service.  She is the first woman to head the agency.  The post does not require Senate confirmation.  Pierson is a veteran Secret Service agent, and replaces Mark Sullivan.  Sullivan recently retired after dealing with a scandal involving Secret Service agents and prostitutes in Colombia.  The agents were doing advance work ahead of a presidential visit to Cartagena last April.
