Following the surprise announcement of Super Mario Run on IOS at today’s Apple “special event”, the tech giant took the stage to discuss the updates to the Apple Watch with “series 2”.
Along with updates to the watch operating system, the new S2 Apple Watch will not only be sweat resistant but is now swim proof and water resistant to 50 meters allowing you to swim, surf and shower with your Apple Watch strapped to your wrist. Maybe the coolest water resistant feature comes with the speaker which is open to the water but uses actual speaker sound/pressure to blast any water out of that opening after your swim session.
Also added to the Series 2 watch is built in GPS which will allow walkers and runners to track their workout while leaving their phone at home and tracking on their watch keeping GPS accurate pace and distance.
Next up, an announcement with new Apple Watch partner Nike leading straight into the Apple Watch Nike+ model. A comfortable perforated band with a lightweight aluminum body brings two of the world’s biggest power brands together on one venture. Featuring personalized coaching, motivation and workout plans, the Apple Watch Nike+ will be released in four colors and provides athletes with all the data and metrics an athlete wants in it’s attempt to become “your perfect running partner”.
With Apple Watch IOS 3 it will be faster, brighter and environmentally friendly.
New styles of bands, faceplates and materials will also be available for purchase on the Apple Watch Series 2 including a sleek white ceramic Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch Series 2 and Apple Watch Nike+ will be priced at $369 to begin. The Original Series 1 Apple Watch will still be available with an upgraded processor selling in the mid $200s.
